camera really doesn’t do much justice to tonight’s blue ocean. and this was barely 1/4 of the arena.

tonight’s performance was special. not in that spectacular kind of way but more of this amazing harmony between super junior and elf.

maybe it’s because it’s teuk’s last super show before he enlists. or the fact that the stage seemed bigger and emptier with the number of members missing. maybe it was that nostalgic clip they played that showed their training days through debut, first win, various super shows - the same clips i’ve watched over and over again when i first got to know them. or the fact that kangin’s face made an appearance; a reminder, i guess, that he’s finally coming back.

but it’s probably because of the ballads. the ballads they sang tonight, both english and korean resonated within me the same way adele’s someone like you did when i first heard it.

everything tonight was beautifully melancholic. from the first dance, to the fan talks, the video skits, the 90-degree/30-second bow at the end. they gave their all. like they knew it’d be a long time before another super show can happen.

happiness in sadness.

but i suppose that’s just me.
